Posting, Locking, and Publishing Grades

Overview

Report card grades need to be posted and locked at the end of every grading period.  Get an overview of the various processes in this unit of study.

Demo Database: Comprehension questions and tasks follow each video. You can use your own school's database or our "Learn" demo database, the URL and credentials for which are listed in our customer support portal (separate login required). Contact your school's point person or your Veracross account manager with questions.

1. Overview of the Report Card Document

After watching this video answer or complete the following:

  1. What is a report card document? What are some other "report card" things that it could be confused with?
  2. Find two students' Q3 report cards. Find one with a report card query and find the other via the Documents homepage.
  3. Access a report card document via URL.

2. Posting Blank Grades

  1. Describe the overall grade posting procedure. When does it occur? How might it vary from school to school?
  2. Name three ways to post grades. 
  3. What does it mean to "post blank grades"?

  1. What does it mean to lock a grade? Who locks them? (teachers, staff, others?)
  2. When might grades be typically locked? Why?

  1. What does it mean to publish report cards? How are they "delivered" to parents?
  2. What notification is sent automatically when report cards are published?
  3. How do you publish report cards for an arbitrary grading period?
  4. How do you find a student and hide their report card (and only theirs)?
