Overview

In this unit, get an overview of all things LMS, or Learning Management System. Within the portals, teachers have they ability to build out and manage their class content and determine what is visible and available to parents and student.

LMS Overview

After watching this video answer or complete the following:

1. Name five types of things teachers are able to add using the teacher portal.
2. What controls what teachers see on the Grades and Comments Tab?
3. I am the Algebra 101 teacher and I want to switch to another class that I teach. What is the fastest way to do that from the LMS?

Taking Attendance

After watching this video answer or complete the following:

1. How are teachers easily able to see from their Portal whether or not attendance has been taken?
2. Name two differences from the detail a teachers sees when entering Master Attendance and Class Attendance.
3. Easy: Detail the steps for finding a class where Class Attendance has not been taken for today and taking attendance.
4. Easy: Detail the steps for finding a class where Master Attendance has not been taken for today and taking attendance.
5. Difficult: Detail the steps for finding a Class in Veracross (Axiom) and resetting its attendance, then taking Class / Master Attendance again.

Adding Assignments

After watching this video answer or complete the following:

1. What is the quickest way to get directly to the Gradebook?
2. Talk through the process for adding an assignment to the gradebook where the assignment is only for this section and the assignment type has weighting (for bonus points: and that the assignment is in the correct Grading Period).
3. Hard: Where can Standard Deviation be found in the Gradebook? Also, what does Standard Deviation mean?
4. How could you create an additional Assignment that is more of an Exit Slip or Entry Ticket and quick fill the assignment to give every student the maximum score?

Assignment Completion Status

1. List the assignment statuses that factor into the calculated grade.
2. List the assignment statuses that do not factor into the calculated grade.
3. Bonus: If you change an assignment status to one of the status that does not factor into the final grade what will happen to the grade detail report?

Grades and Comments

1. What controls what teachers see on the Grades and Comments tab? Where can this be found in Axiom?
2. What is the difference between the Calculated Grade in the Gradebook and the Grade fields on the Grades and Comments Tab?
3. Where do the Grades that are entered on the Grades and Comments end up?
4. In a handful of sentences describe what teachers are able to do on the Grades and Comments tab.
5. Walk through the process of entering grades for every student in a particular class.

LMS Troubleshooting

After watching this video answer or complete the following:

1. If you add an assignment and refresh the page, where did the assignment go, and how can you get the assignment to stick? In other words: how can you add an assignment to the particular Grading Period Active in the Gradebook?
2. How do you adjust Class Assignment Type weighting and add an assignment with a type that has weighting (be aware of grading period)?
3. Attendance is showing as not taken at portals.veracross but I just took attendance for that class in classes.veracross, what happened?
