Overview
The Health Kiosk, typically set up on a dedicated computer in the Health Office at a school, provides an easy method for students to check themselves in (or have an adult help them) for a medical visit. It creates a new medical visit record, populated with the student’s name, basic symptom, and a text description.
Medical visits entered via the Kiosk can be viewed most easily by the nurse and other health professionals via the New Health Kiosk Visits query on the Health homepage. They are also visible in the more general Upcoming Visits query.
Set up the Kiosk
To set up the Health Kiosk at the beginning of a school day, navigate to the Health homepage and click the Health Kiosk link. This launches a new tab/window with the Health Kiosk. The nurse should log in using their normal VC username and password. Once logged in, the kiosk will not require another login for 24 hours, meaning the nurse does not need to repeatedly log in throughout the day.
Tip: Bookmark the Health Kiosk link in the browser on the computer regularly used to access it, but do not enable usernames and passwords to autofill.
Enter a Kiosk Medical Visit
There are three pieces of information required for entering a medical visit:
- Select your name. A drop-down box is presented listing all students by grade level. Selecting a name displays the next two steps.
- Symptom. Select from a drop-down menu. Symptoms can be managed from Health Symptom Codes link on the Health homepage. This populates the Primary Symptom Code on the visit record.
- Explain why you are visiting the medical office. This text description populates the Symptoms notes field on the visit record.
When all three pieces of information are entered, click Confirm Visit. The screen resets to its initial position and displays a confirmation message for several seconds. The medical visit record has now been created for the school nurse to pull up and complete.
Find a Kiosk Medical Visit
Medical visits entered via the Kiosk can be viewed most easily by the nurse and other health professionals via the New Health Kiosk Visits query on the Health homepage. They are also visible in the more general Upcoming Visits query. The workflow for handling kiosk visits is identical to handling scheduled visits. On the medical visit record, enter all information as needed, including adding a Time In, and Time Out as desired. Both of the Times can be set manually or by clicking the “Set” toggles to populate with the current time.
