The Blackboard Connect export for Parent information is detailed below. The parent file will contain one row for each parent/student relationship record in Veracross. Much of the data that is included in the parent export comes from the parent record in Veracross. This allows schools to target parents and students separately if the school chooses. If schools would like to notify or contact Students, schools should use the “contacttype” of “Student” (Link to Student Export details).
The exact filename is “other.csv”.
The bold fields are the names of the fields included in the export. The description will describe where the value of the data comes from in the database:
| Field Name | Description |
| Institution | This will be the school name and is hardcoded for the export (eg. “Veracross Academy”). Each school will need to communicate to Blackboard Connect what the Institution value will be. |
| ContactType | The value of “Other” will be hardcoded for the Parent export. Each person in Veracross that has a custodial relationship to a student (ie. the “custody” flag is checked) OR where a person is set to “Receive General Correspondance” (ie. the “GC” flag is checked for someone who has a relationship to a student) will be included in this list. |
| ReferenceCode | This value comes from the “RELATIONSHIP ID” field of the relationship that a *PARENT* has to a student in Veracross |
| FirstName | This value comes from the “First Name” field of the *PARENT* in Veracross |
| LastName | This value comes from the “Last Name” field of the *PARENT* in Veracross |
| Gender | This value comes from the “Gender” field of the *PARENT* in Veracross |
| HomePhone | This value comes from the “Home Phone” field of the *HOUSEHOLD* that the parent is associated with in Veracross |
| WorkPhone | This value comes from the “Business Phone” field of the *PARENT* in Veracross |
| WorkPhone_ext | This value comes from a part of the “Work Phone” field of the *PARENT* in Veracross. Note, this value will populate if there the extension is populated in the work phone field. For example, the extension of “1234” will be included in this value if a parent’s business phone is “111-222-3333 x1234” |
| Mobilephone | This value comes from the “Mobile Phone” field of the *PARENT* in Veracross |
| SMSPhone | This value comes from the “Mobile Phone” field of the *PARENT* in Veracross |
| EmailAddress | This value comes from the “Email 1” field of the *PARENT* in Veracross |
| EmailAddressAlt | This value comes from the “Email 2” field of the *PARENT* in Veracross |
| HomeAddress | This value comes from the “Address 1” field of the *HOUSEHOLD* that the parent is associated with in Veracross |
| HomeCity | This value comes from the “City” field of the *HOUSEHOLD* that the parent is associated with in Veracross |
| HomeState | This value comes from the “State/Province” field of the *HOUSEHOLD* that the parent is associated with in Veracross |
| HomeZip | This value comes from the “Zip_code” field of the *HOUSEHOLD* that the parent is associated with in Veracross |
| Grade | This value comes from the “Current Grade” field of the *STUDENT* that a parent has a relationship with in Veracross |
| Group1 | This value will list “Parent” for each record in this export |
| Group2 | This value will be the “Student Group” of the related student |
| Group3 | This value will be The “Resident Status” of the related student |
| Group4 | Hardcoded to display ‘Emergency Contact’ if the parent is listed as an emergency contact for the related student. The purpose of this value is so you are able to filter those custodial parents who are listed as being an emergency contact in Veracross. |
